Research & Public Education
Policy
The Center for Public Policy turns research and lived experience into clear analysis, practical recommendations, and accessible public education on the issues shaping life in America.
What We Do
Four overlapping kinds of work, all aimed at making policy more useful for both policymakers and the communities they serve.
Policy Research
Original analysis on the issues we focus on, grounded in data, primary sources, and conversations with the people affected.
Policy Analysis
Breaking down existing proposals and programs so policymakers and the public can see what they actually do.
Public Education
Plain-language articles, explainers, and resources that make policy understandable without watering it down.
Policy Recommendations
Translating what the research and the community tell us into practical, actionable ideas for policymakers.
Current Research Focus Areas
The states where the Center for Public Policy is actively researching and publishing.
Virginia
Virginia is one of our two current research focus areas. The Commonwealth's mix of dense urban regions, rural communities, and a sizable federal workforce makes it a particularly useful place to study how policy moves between research and lived experience.
- Public mental health awareness and access
- Civic engagement in mixed urban and rural communities
- Public education on state-level policy issues

Texas
Texas is our second current research focus area. The state's scale, demographic diversity, and the range of issues policymakers and communities are navigating make it a high-impact place for the foundation's research and public education work.
- Mental health awareness in growing communities
- Public education on state and local policy
- Community-level engagement and outreach

Developing Areas of Policy Research
States we're scoping for future research and public education. These are not yet confirmed.
California
DevelopingCalifornia is a potential future research focus area. We're scoping the most useful contributions the foundation could make given the scale and complexity of state policy work already underway.
Maryland
DevelopingMaryland is a potential future research focus area. We're evaluating where the foundation's policy research and public education work could most usefully complement existing efforts.
New York
DevelopingNew York is a potential future research focus area. The state's size and policy complexity present both opportunities and questions about where the foundation can add the most value.
